The crew persisted, and after seeing the Telugu version of the film, she agreed to give it a shot. Tamil director S. Shankar, impressed by her Parker Pen commercial, cast her in the leading role in his 2003 Tamil film Boys. She simultaneously signed up for three movies in different languages: Tujhe Meri Kasam (Hindi), Boys (Tamil), and Satyam (Telugu).

Geenu’s film journey began with Tujhe Meri Kasam in 2003, gaining praise for her natural performance. Although the movie succeeded, it didn’t significantly boost her Hindi cinema career. So, she shifted her focus to South Indian films, making her Tamil debut in Boys and Telugu debut in Satyam, both well-received.

The turning point in Geenu’s career came in 2006 with the Telugu romantic comedy Bommarillu. Her portrayal of Haasini earned accolades, and the film became a blockbuster. She won the Telugu Filmfare Award for Best Actress, among other honors. Following Bommarillu’s success, she played roles in Tamil and Telugu films, maintaining her success streak.

In 2008, Geenu starred in the blockbuster Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na, a romantic comedy-drama that brought her widespread acclaim. Geenu continued her success with roles in Telugu films like Sasirekha Parinayam and Katha. In 2011, she made her Malayalam debut in Urumi, portraying a warrior princess.
