Career
In 1976, Deepak Parashar, along with Nafisa Ali and Poonam Dhillon, achieved the title of Mr. India/India Prince. This win catapulted his modeling career, leading him to represent “Only Vimal” suitings in the late 1970s. Notably, he received his crown from Bollywood icons Zeenat Aman and Dev Anand.
Following his Mr. India success, Deepak ventured into the modeling industry, featuring in numerous advertisements for top brands. His captivating face graced campaigns for brands like Super Bazaar in New Delhi.
In 1977, Deepak embarked on his Bollywood journey as an assistant director, initially contributing to films like “Bhumika,” “Nishant,” and “Ankur.” This experience allowed him to learn the intricacies of filmmaking under the guidance of renowned directors like Shyam Benegal.
In 1980, Deepak made his acting debut in the Hindi film “Insaaf Ka Tarazu,” portraying the character Ashok Sharma. His acting repertoire expanded with roles in films such as “Aap To Aise Na The,” “Pyar Ki Manzil,” “Nikaah,” and “Awam.”
In 1982, Deepak gained widespread acclaim for his role as Wasim Ahmed in the film “Nikaah,” originally titled “Talaq Talaq Talaq” before a name change due to objections from the Muslim community. In 1983, Deepak ventured into film production, producing “Achha Bura” under the direction of Hrishikesh Mukherjee. He had earlier won the United Producers contest, which provided him with additional opportunities in the industry.
Throughout his career, Deepak also showcased his talent on television, appearing in popular shows like “Aandhiyan,” “Swaabhimaan,” and “Tamanna.” From his early days as Mr. India to his multifaceted career as an actor, director, and producer, Deepak Parashar’s journey in Bollywood was marked by determination, learning, and seizing opportunities.
