Career

Charmy Kaur began her acting journey in the Telugu film industry with her debut in the 2002 film “Nee Thodu Kavali” at the age of 13, portraying the role of a housewife. Although the film didn’t perform well at the box office, it garnered attention for Charmy, leading to opportunities in the South Indian film industry.

Following her debut, Charmy appeared in the Tamil film “Kadhal Azhivathillai” alongside Silambarasan and also starred in a Malayalam film called “Kattuchembakam,” directed by Vinayan.

She made a comeback to Telugu cinema with “Neeke Manasichaanu,” followed by significant roles in films such as “Sri Anjaneyam” and “Chanti.” Her breakthrough in Telugu cinema came with “Gowri,” where she was paired with Sumanth, and “Dongala Mutha,” directed by Ram Gopal Varma, where she starred opposite Ravi Teja.

In subsequent years, Charmy made special appearances in Telugu films like “Dhamarukam,” “Naayak,” and “Yaare Koogadali.” She also ventured into Hindi cinema with films such as “Zila Ghaziabad” and “R… Rajkumar.” In 2015, Charmy not only starred but also produced the film “Jyothi Lakshmi,” directed by Puri Jagannadh. Her 50th film, “Pratighatana,” saw her portraying the role of a journalist.

Transitioning into production, Charmy co-produced several films including “Rogue” and “Paisa Vasool,” both directed by Puri Jagannadh. She also co-produced the film “Mehbooba” under the Puri Connects banner, launching Puri Jagannadh’s son Akash Puri as an actor. In May 2019, Charmy Kaur announced her retirement from acting to focus solely on her career as a film producer.
