Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia was born in Delhi to a Hindu Rajput family. His father hails from Haryana, while his mother is from Punjab.

He finished his early education at Bal Bharti Public School in Pitampura, Delhi. During his time there, he showcased his musical talents by participating in the school choir. Before pursuing a career in music, he initially studied mathematics at Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi.

Later, he switched to civil engineering at NIT, Durgapur. It was during this time that he discovered and developed an interest in Punjabi music, ultimately leading him to explore rap writing. Interestingly, he once mentioned that if he hadn’t become a rapper, he might have pursued a career as an IAS officer.

Aditya was previously married to Jasmine Masih, but they divorced in 2020. They share a daughter named Jessemy Grace Masih Singh, who was born on 11 January 2017.

Badshah began his journey in the music industry under the name “Cool Equal” but later adopted the stage name Badshah. He is well-known for his signature catchphrase, “it’s your boy Badshah,” often stylized as “Ish yo boy Baad-uh-sh-aa-ah.”

On 7 August 2020, he dropped a classic pop and hip-hop album titled ‘The Power of Dreams of a Kid,’ featuring eight tracks. The album included collaborations with artists such as Lisa Mishra, Sikander Kahlon, Fotty Seven, Bali, and Music Producer Andy Grewal. The mastering and mixing of the album were handled by Aditya Dev.

One of Badshah’s notable achievements was with his 2019 song “Paagal,” which garnered 74.8 million views on YouTube within 24 hours. This set a record for the most-viewed video on YouTube in a single day, although YouTube did not officially confirm the record. Badshah’s record label, Sony Music, revealed that they had utilized Google AdSense advertisements to promote the song, a practice not uncommon in the global music industry.

In 2020, Badshah released the song “Genda Phool” through Sony Music India, blending it with a Bengali folk song called “Boro Loker Biti Lo.” Ratan Kahar, a Bengali artist, claimed to be the original writer and composer of the folk song. Badshah clarified that it was a traditional Baul folk song, not copyrighted, as folk music falls outside copyright protections and is considered public domain.

Continuing his success, Badshah collaborated once again with Jacqueline Fernandez on the song “Pani Pani,” sung by Aastha Gill. The song has surpassed 500 million views on YouTube. Additionally, he released a Bhojpuri version of the song in collaboration with Khesari Lal Yadav. Remarkably, the Bhojpuri version achieved over one million views in less than an hour, making it the first Bhojpuri song to achieve such a milestone.
