Career

Singh’s musical journey began when his mentor Rajendra Prasad Hazari urged him to leave his hometown and join the reality show Fame Gurukul in 2005 at the age of 18. Despite being eliminated, filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali recognized his talent and offered him a song in his film Saawariya, which unfortunately didn’t make it to the final cut. After this setback, Singh signed with Tips but his album never got released.

He won another reality show, which prompted him to move to Mumbai in 2006 to pursue a career in music. He invested his winnings to set up his recording studio and began composing music for advertisements, news channels, and radio stations. Singh started his career as a music programmer and producer, working with renowned composers like Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Vishal-Shekhar, and Pritam.

In 2010, Singh collaborated with Pritam for films like Golmaal 3, Crook, and Action Replayy. His Bollywood debut came with the song “Phir Mohabbat” from Murder 2 in 2011. He gained recognition with hits like “Tum Hi Ho” from Aashiqui 2 and “Raabta” from Agent Vinod. Singh’s career continued to soar as he delivered chartbusters like “Kabira” and “Ilahi” from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and “Main Rang Sharbaton Ka” from Phata Poster Nikhla Hero.

In 2014, Singh collaborated with various composers including Sajid-Wajid, A.R. Rahman, and Amit Trivedi, delivering hits like “Mast Magan” from 2 States and “Samjhawan” from Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. He received numerous nominations and awards for his soulful rendition of songs like “Gulon Mein Rang Bhare” from Haider and “Muskurane” from CityLights.

Singh expanded his horizon by debuting in Tamil with “Neeye Vaazhkai Enbena” from Pugazh in 2015. He continued to mesmerize audiences with hits like “Sooraj Dooba Hain” from Roy and “Agar Tum Saath Ho” from Tamasha. His collaboration with composers like Amaal Mallik, Mithoon, and Jeet Gannguli yielded more chart-toppers like “Chunar” from ABCD 2 and “Teri Khushboo” from Mr. X.

In 2016, Singh’s magical voice graced songs like “Sanam Re” from Sanam Re and “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil” title track. He further impressed with hits like “Naina” from Dangal and “Channa Mereya” from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.

2017 saw Singh’s versatile singing in songs like “Zaalima” from Raees and “Phir Bhi Tumko Chaahunga” from Half Girlfriend. He continued to enthrall audiences with tracks like “Haareya” from Meri Pyaari Bindu and “Beech Beech Mein” from Jab Harry Met Sejal.
