Career
As an infant, Akhil made his debut in his father’s comedy film “Sisindri” in 1995, which was an Indian adaptation of “Baby’s Day Out” (1994).
In 2014, he appeared in a brief cameo in the family drama “Manam”, directed by Vikram Kumar, alongside his grandfather, father, and half-brother. The film was well-received by audiences and critics, earning praise as a classic Telugu film.
Following his cameo, Akhil starred as the lead in his debut film “Akhil” in 2015, directed by V. V. Vinayak. Despite high expectations, the film didn’t fare well at the box office, leading to a two-year hiatus.
In 2017, he returned with “Hello”, directed by Vikram Kumar, which received generally positive reviews but was below-average at the box office. His third film, “Mr. Majnu” in 2019, also failed to impress both critics and audiences, marking his third consecutive disappointment.
In October 2021, Akhil bounced back with the romantic comedy “Most Eligible Bachelor”, co-starring Pooja Hegde. Directed by Bhaskar, the film was well-received and gave Akhil a much-needed box office success.
