Career
In 2007, his first book of poems, ‘My Thoughts in White and Black’, was published. The next year, he ventured into lyricism, releasing a private album titled Ummeed, where he penned all eight songs.
In 2010, he gained attention for his involvement in a book burning protest against the inclusion of Rohinton Mistry’s ‘Such a Long Journey’ in Mumbai University’s reading list. Thackeray claimed the book contained derogatory language towards Marathis.
Moving into politics, in October 2019, Thackeray entered the political arena by contesting the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly election from the Worli constituency in Mumbai. He won, marking the first electoral victory for the Thackeray family. Following this, he assumed the role of Cabinet Minister for tourism, protocol, and environment in the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi government on December 30, 2019.
Before his official election, Thackeray played a significant role in various projects during the Devendra Fadnavis-led government. Notably, he spearheaded the ban on single-use plastics in Maharashtra, a move applauded by the state’s residents.
