In 2008, Aarya Ambekar auditioned for the first season of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Marathi L’il Champs, a singing competition on Zee Marathi. Out of thousands of kids aged 8 to 14 in Maharashtra, she made it to the final 50, then the top 10, and finally became one of the Final 5 Mega-Finalists.

During the show, people fondly called Aarya the “Pretty Young Girl.” She sang various songs and caught the judges’ attention by consistently earning full marks. A remarkable moment was when she received वरचा नी (equivalent to 200%) for her beautiful rendition of “Paan Khae Saiyyan Hamaro.” This record is unbeaten even after nine schedules of SA RE GA MA PA and two schedules for professional singers. The guest judge for that episode was singer Hariharan.

Aarya’s talent didn’t go unnoticed, and she was awarded Performer of the Week multiple times by renowned singers like Mahalaxmi Iyer, Shreya Ghoshal, and Hariharan. She showcased her versatility by singing various genres, from classical and folk songs to Marathi film music and Hindi songs.
