Career
In 2002, Pothineni made his screen debut in the Tamil short film “Adayaalam,” portraying an 18-year-old drug addict. His theatrical debut came in 2006 with the film “Devadasu.” Following this, he appeared in “Jagadam” opposite Isha Sahani and “Ready” alongside Genelia D’Souza, which was a commercial success.
In 2009, he had two releases, “Maska” and “Ganesh: Just Ganesh.” In 2010, Pothineni starred in “Rama Rama Krishna Krishna,” produced by Dil Raju and directed by Srivaas. From 2011 to 2016, Pothineni appeared in several films, including “Kandireega,” “Endukante… Premanta!,” “Ongole Githa,” and “Masala.”
In 2015, he starred in “Pandaga Chesko” and “Shivam,” with the former being a commercial success and the latter facing failure at the box office. In 2016, he had two releases, “Nenu Sailaja,” which was a commercial success, and “Hyper,” which performed averagely.
From 2017 onwards, Pothineni continued his career with films like “Vunnadhi Okate Zindagi,” “Hello Guru Prema Kosame,” and “iSmart Shankar,” the latter being a significant commercial success. In 2021, he starred in “Red,” a remake of the Tamil film “Thadam.” In 2022, he appeared in “The Warriorr,” directed by Lingusamy, which received negative reviews.
His subsequent film, “Skanda” released in 2023 to mixed reviews. Pothineni is set to star in “Double Ismart,” scheduled for release in 2024. Pothineni has also gained recognition in the media, featuring on the Hyderabad Times Most Desirable Men list multiple times and endorsing brands like Garnier alongside John Abraham.
