Early Life
Shreyanka Patil, an emerging Indian cricketer, is widely recognized as a skilled bowler in domestic cricket. Having represented India A, Karnataka, and several other teams, she has showcased her talent on various platforms.
Her journey in cricket began after watching the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2013, where she had the opportunity to meet her favorite cricketer, Virat Kohli.
During her early years, Shreyanka took on the role of captain for the under-16 Karnataka team in different tournaments, demonstrating leadership and skill on the field.
To refine her cricket skills, she underwent training at NICE Cricket Associations. Under the guidance of her coach, Arjun Dev, she not only honed her bowling abilities but also started working on her batting. The hard work paid off when, positioned at the 5th batting position instead of her usual 10th, she achieved a significant milestone by scoring her first century.
Career
Shreyanka Patil started her cricket journey by making her debut for Karnataka in October 2019 against Pondicherry. In that match, she demonstrated her bowling skills by taking 1/21 from two overs.
Moving forward to November 2022, she played for South Zone against North East Zone in the Women’s Senior Inter Zonal T20. During this match, Shreyanka displayed an outstanding performance, claiming 4/7 from four overs.
The year 2023 proved to be significant for Patil’s career. In January, she achieved a personal milestone by scoring her maiden List A half-century, amassing 73 runs against Arunachal Pradesh.
In February 2023, she secured a spot in the Royal Challengers Bangalore team for the inaugural Women’s Premier League. Throughout the tournament, Patil showcased her skills by taking six wickets at an average of 32.00 in seven matches.
Taking her talent to the international stage, in August 2023, Patil signed with Guyana Amazon Warriors for the 2023 Women’s Caribbean Premier League. She emerged as the leading wicket-taker in the tournament, impressively claiming 9 wickets at an average of 11.66.
Further making a mark in international cricket, in June 2023, Patil played for India A at the 2023 ACC Women’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup. She stood out as the leading wicket-taker in the tournament, securing 9 wickets. Noteworthy performances included 5/2 against Hong Kong and 4/13 in the final against Bangladesh A.
Her exceptional performances led to a call-up to the India squad in December 2023. She made her international debut in the first match of the Twenty20 International series against England, showcasing her skills with a commendable 2/44 from four overs. Later that month, she earned her maiden Women’s One Day International (WODI) call-up in the series against Australia and made her debut on December 30, 2023.
